Soybean Conference meetings slated for February
Madison, Wis. - The 2010 Wisconsin Area Soybean Conference meetings, sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Extension, the Wisconsin Soybean Association and the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, will be held Feb. 15, 16 and 17 in New Lisbon, Dodgeville and Janesville.
These conferences are designed to provide technical insight and practical advice to improve on-farm results. The meetings use the latest information available from university and industry research to help producers raise a crop with maximum yield, quality and profitability. The program is an in-depth learning experience with an opportunity to interact with soybean production experts and fellow growers. CCA credits in crop management (1.0 hour) and pest management (1.5 hours) have been requested.
All three meetings will cover the same topics, which include:
- Managing soybean diseases from planting to harvest; Dr. Paul Esker, UW-Extension plant pathologist.
- Soybean insect management updates for 2010; Dr. Eileen Cullen, UW-Extension entomologist.
- What’s new in seed, crop protection and incoulants; industry representatives.
- Quantifying the value of what’s “In” and “On” the seed; Dr. Shawn Conley, UW-Extension soybean specialist.
- 2010 commodity outlook; Dr. T. Randall Fortenbery, RENK Chair in Agribusiness, Agricultural and Applied Economics, Director, Renk Agribusiness Institute.
Sessions start at 10 a.m. with registration and conclude at 2:45 p.m. The dates and locations of meetings are:
- Feb. 15, New Lisbon, Traveler’s Inn & Convention Center, 1700 East Bridge St.
- Feb. 16, Dodgeville, Dodger Bowl, 318 King Street.
- Feb. 17, Janesville, Best Western, 3900 Milton Ave. (Hwy 26, just north of I-90.)
Registration is $20 per person or $10 for Wisconsin Soybean Association members. The fee includes a packet of meeting materials, lunch and refreshments for breaks.
